The term "lifting manoeuvres" refers to the process of moving materials to a higher level by handling them. This procedure is typically carried out manually or with the additional support of forklifts, hoisting systems, and cranes. Activities involving the vehicles and systems mentioned are important to acknowledge for asset inspection purposes. According to OSHA guidelines and standard number 29 CFR 1910, the main risks involved in lifting maneuvers that may affect asset inspectors are:

  • Risk of being struck by falling objects.
  • Risk of being runover by the vehicle.
  • Risk of being struck or crushed by the forklift.
  • Risk of being struck by hooks and chains from a hoisting system.
